The Winery

Beau Rivage Cellars is a small production California wine dedicated to producing classically balanced wines using traditional, artisanal techniques. Launched in 2017 by William Kelley and Frank Ingriselli, our search for organically farmed fruit capable of attaining mature flavors at moderate degrees of alcohol led us to Clarksburg, where Chenin Blanc thrives on the banks of the Sacramento River. While Clarksburg Chenin may be far from California wine’s mainstream, we are thrilled by its vivid, succulent flavors.

While Chenin Blanc’s homeplace is the central Loire Valley, our winemaking practices nod to Burgundian techniques. Our grapes are picked and sorted by hand; pressed; and fermented and matured in used barrels and demi-muids from some of France’s best coopers. We have drawn inspiration from conversations with the likes of Jean-François Coche and Klaus-Peter Keller. Closer to home, Sandland’s Tegan Passalacqua and—above all—Kalin Cellar’s Terry Leighton have decisively shaped the kind of wine we try to make and how we make it.
